The Apple Tree

The Beginnings!

They say Life began in the Garden of Eden, therefore
the Apple tree must be the Tree of Life?

It is said that if the sun could be seen shining through the branches of an Apple
tree on December 25, Christmas Day, then the owner would reap a healthy crop
the following summer.
'Wassail Parties' were traditionally held by men of the area where cider was made,
such as Somerset, England (UK).
Celebrations focused on giving thanks to the wood spirits and all spirits that
safeguarded the crop, culminating in songs and verses being chanted
whilst the remaining cider was thrown over the trees.

I Love All Trees

Panoramic Beauty! What is That?

The Blue, Blue Ocean ~ Powerful, Peaceful... Sure!
The Desert ~ is Dry... Hmm!
The Rivers ~ Flowing gently or, perhaps raging rapids...
True!
But for me, beauty is in all trees through all seasons!
.

Each week I pass through a Square in our city where many mighty oaks
form a complete canopy over the area, and I never cease to
wonder at their beauty.

It is over 200 years since the first settlers came to Launceston and
planted these oak trees.

In the WINTER they look so stark but never lose their beauty of form.

In the SPRING a miracle happens ~ they are covered by small, light green,
almost transparent, leaves.

By SUMMER the leaves are darker and larger, it is then they provide a
delicious coolness to the Square.

In the AUTUMN these leaves change colour again, before dropping into
a thick carpet.

I just love scuffing my way through these banks of leaves to hear
them rustle.
Another small enjoyment is to tread on the acorns to hear them pop.

"I talk to the trees, but they don't listen to me"
Quote from a well known song

Not true!

I have a "Wishing Tree" like the one above.

Here I whisper....
Wishing tree, Wishing Tree,
All my **secrets** keep for me.
Under this beautiful, embracing, comforting tree;
my mind can wander down many paths,
I can whisper my secrets, my hopes, & dream awhile.

Under this beautiful, embracing, comforting tree; my mind can
wander down many paths, I can whisper my secrets, my
hopes, & dream awhile.

I always leave refreshed.

An Irish Blessing!
May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus too,
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.
